Prenatal Care

Prenatal Chiropractic Care

Prenatal chiropractic care is a safe and effective way for pregnant women to obtain relief from pain. Our Maryland chiropractor uses special techniques to reduce pain without harming the baby.

Changes during pregnancy that result in misaligned joints and lead to pain are:
  • Protruding abdomen and increased back curve
  • Pelvic changes
  • Postural adaptations
We commonly treat pregnant women for complaints of:
  • Low Back Pain
  • Sciatica
  • Sacroiliac Discomfort
  • Carpal Tunnel

Our goal at Liberty Chiropractic is to help expectant mothers have a more comfortable pregnancy by providing quick effective pain relief for these conditions. The chiropractic adjustments we provide are safe and gentle for both mother and baby.  Dr. Desiree Williams has been trained to work with pregnant women using tables that adjust for a pregnant woman’s body, and she uses techniques that avoid unneeded pressure on the abdomen. Along with the adjustments we provide you with exercises and stretches that are safe to use during pregnancy and utilize evidence based soft tissue treatments to best suit your specific needs.

Dr. Williams is trained in the Webster Technique. The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment that reduces the effects of sacral/SI joint dysfunction. Sacral dysfunction may contribute to uterine nerve interference, pelvic misalignment, and the tightening and torsion of specific pelvic muscles and ligaments. The resulting tense muscles and ligaments, and their aberrant effect on the uterus, may prevent the baby from comfortably assuming the best possible position for birth.
